Elizabeth Edwards Opens Red Window Furniture Store in downtown Chapel Hill

Chapel Hill, NC—(August 7, 2009)—Elizabeth Edwards has opened Red Window furniture story, a 700- square foot dwelling, that sells unique items such as folk art paintings, lighting fixtures, furnishings, and accessories. The store was designed to appeal to all tastes and budgets and houses an eclectic combination of distinctive armoires, wardrobes, entertainment centers, tables, chairs and sofas and unique hand painted furniture, metal art and more. Red Window also features handmade sea shelled themed art designed by Edwards’s sister, Nancy Anania.

Red Window opened its doors in late-July to test summer hours and monitor foot- traffic through the town. The store will hold an official grand opening in late August, when students return to the college town. Chapel Hill is home of the University of North Carolina and also home to John and Elizabeth Edwards and their family. A grand opening is set for August 22.

Red Window is named in memory of the furniture store, Red Door, operated by Edwards’ mother, while the family resided in Japan.

“Elizabeth has a beautiful eye for art and creative furnishings,” says manager and family friend, Cameron Hughes. “A nearby warehouse is stacked with colorful, unique objects that we will continually add as inventory turns,” said Hughes.

“We are delighted to have Mrs. Edwards’ store in downtown Chapel Hill. Her creative eye and reputation for creativity and quality will only add to the allure of this famed area. We look forward to heralding in new stores such as Red Window as we continue to turn the spotlight on new additions to North Carolina’s main street,” said Chapel Hill Mayor Kevin Foy.

Red Window is located at 400 W. Rosemary Street, Ste. 1004, Chapel Hill, NC 27516. 919.636.4563. Current hours are 10 am – 2 pm. The website is currently under construction but will be live in time for the grand opening. www.redwindow.net.

I was delighted to see Mrs. Edwards in the news this evening. I pray that she will do well in her new setting. It is time that she had a break.

I look forward to seeing Red Window.

Dear Elizabeth,

Your store appears quite lovely and I think it is based on a lovely concept and sure to boost the furniture, furnishings and crafts production and economy of North Carolina. Kudos for sharing such loveliness with us all and congratulations to your whole family for this achievement.

p.s. I don’t think we have enough attention in our country to the role crafts can play for a warmer, richer quality of life.

It was nice of John to attend the Grand Opening, I understand he was also the first customer purchasing a childrens bed and a desk.

I admire Elizabeth as she holds her head high and finds her identity in those things that bring her joy.

When I visit Chapel Hill, the Red Window will be my first stop.

Congrats! Love the name. Wishing health, happiness, & prosperity for your entire family.

Congratulations + Best of Luck to your latest endeavour!! You’re truly an Amazing Grace and an Inspiration, full of Courage that your Kids can look up to and be so proud of, despite your enduring challenges. Kudos to You, Maam!! God Bless You and your family always!!

Yes! This is exactly what I have been looking for. I applaud you for thinking of the Middle class. We have great ideas and small pocketbooks. Good Luck

Elizabeth, your store looks lovely.Congratulations and the best of luck. I am one of your many fans, and I am so happy to see you doing so well. Is there a chance you might have a few things on line to sell for those of us that live too far away? Maybe even a catalog.

Elizabeth,
Congratulations and i wish you all the best. You are such a beautiful, classy lady, I hope you find much happiness that you so deserve. God Bless you and your children.

I see the Edwards’ have found another way to take $$$ from North Carolinians. First John chasing ambulances, then as our most worthless no show senator ever, then as a part of our educational system at the “poverty center” to further his political aspirations. And now, Elizabeth selling overpriced furniture.

A beautiful lady, a beautiful idea, a beautiful store.

Wishing you the very best Elizabeth. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations on opening your new store. Bless you for holding your head high in spite of adversity. You are a true inspiration to other women who have gone through difficult times. I admire you tremendously and am anxious to come visit your store, along with 7 of my friends, later this month.

As for John Griffin – your remarks would have been better left unsaid. You show no compassion or empathy for this special lady and her children who have been through so much. Shame on you! (Just for the record, I’m a registered Republican, but a human being first!)

I saw you on TV all the way from NJ. I will keep you in my prayers. I know prayer helps and miracles still happen even My mother is living proof. She is a kidney patient transplant patient and had Gael batter surgery. While at the hosp. she contracted the flesh eating bacteria disease. They could not treat her aggressively because her body would reject her kidney. Long story short the doctors said she had least then an 1/8 of an inch. before it hit her vital organs. They told my family she had 24 hrs. or less to live. I had every person from so many different religions praying for her. I figure God would have to heal her because he would get tried of hearing her name. I do believe everything happens for a reason for the most part. And that there is always a lesson to be learned from this horrible experience, while the lesson is for you or someone who knows you. One of my mothers Doctors said, “I never believed in miracles until I met you”. Tell your family and friends and doctors not to give up prayer.
I hope I’ll be able to shop on line with your furniture some day. Good luck with your new adventure with your business.

Dear Mrs. Edwards, I have been a fan of yours since your husband was running as VP with John Kerry and you had a press conference on one of the cable channels. I thought, now why is she not running for President?

I think you are smart, well informed and most definitely the better half in your marriage. I do hope sincerely you will come through this also. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your children. My wish is that you recover so you will be around for many, many years.

Good luck with your lovely store. My husband and I are planning to visit North Carolina in the spring and will make your store one of our stops.

Looking forward to visiting your store. May God bless you.
