Last month, Carol Woods Retirement Community earned the Social Responsibility Award from LeadingAge North Carolina, the state association representing not-for-profit long-term care facilities.
The award, presented during LeadingAge’s annual meeting in New Bern, recognizes Carol Woods for reaching beyond its campus to improve the lives of all older adults through its Community Connections initiative. The initiative’s purpose is to coordinate existing area resources and collaborate with numerous entities serving older adults. Through the Community Connections initiative, Carol Woods has helped ease individuals’ transition from hospital to home, streamlined information and access to long-term services and supported more than 156 internships and stipends for students in aging services.
