Carrboro High School’s student newspaper, the JagWire, was named a publication of distinction for 2011 by the North Carolina Scholastic Media Association.
The association evaluates hundreds of high school newspapers statewide for overall content, style and design.
The JagWire is a monthly newspaper advised by Jan Gottschalk and is a self-supporting publication.
The JagWire’s news section, under the editorship of Emily Ashley and Natalie Barosso, was awarded third place among all schools with 900 or fewer students. The feature section, edited by Andrea Aldana, also received third place. The newspapers advertising section received an honorable mention.
