Thelma Lloyd, 91, of Oakwood Drive, Chapel Hill, N.C. died March 6, 2010 at Duke
Hospice in Hillsborough, N.C. after a brief illness.
Thelma was born in Prescott, Ark. on Aug. 1, 1918 to Alma and Thomas Morrow. She was one of eight children. Her husband of 49 years, Herman Braxton Lloyd, preceded her in death. She moved to Chapel Hill in 1943 and worked for the U.S. Civil Service, War Department, Morehead Foundation and Lloyd Builders during her lifetime.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Maria Lloyd, of Chapel Hill, her son, Dr. Danny Keith Lloyd, and his wife, Anne Murray Lloyd, of Durham; four grandchildren, Kelly Posillipo, Scott Ellington, Braxton Lloyd and Katherine Lloyd; four great-grandchildren, Cassie Rickman, Mitchell Posillipo, Ava Ray and Greyson Wyland; two sisters, Joy Slatton and Carolyn Palmer; and one brother, Herbert Morrow, all residing in Arkansas.
Thelma was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her visits to the beach. Her passions were gardening, reading and cooking.
A graveside service was held at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery on March 9.
