Obituary: Verlia Mangum

Mrs. Verlia Mozelle Cates Mangum, 100, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Hospice at the Meadowlands.

She was a native of Orange County and graduated from West Hillsboro School. She was a charter member of the Hillsborough Church of God. She was a homemaker for her children. She was the widow of John Mangum.

Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn Draughon of Hillsborough; two sons, Wesley Mangum and wife, Janie, of Hillsborough and Dennis Mangum of Hillsborough; two sisters, Avo C. Turner of Danville, Va. and Jackie C. Carden of Hillsborough; one brother, Billie Cates and wife, Delores, of Hillsborough; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
