Three Carrboro High School students won awards in the North Carolina Japanese High School Essay Contest.
Ryan Chavis won first place in Level II, Alexander Taylor won third place in Level I and Issac Bryant won third place in Level II.
The contest allows students to submit essays in Japanese in any of four different levels of language use.
