News brief: Tiger rescue

Four tigers rescued from a facility in Warrenton, Mo. came through their physicals “with flying colors” at the Carnivore Preservation Trust last week, according to CPT staff.

The tigers were rescued Sept. 5 from Wesa-A-Geh-Ya, the Missouri facility that closed this summer following an incident in which a tiger attack cost a 26-year-old volunteer part of his leg.

It will cost about $5,000 per year to care for each of the new tigers and CPT hopes to raise additional funds to support them for the rest of their lives. To donate to CPT, visit www.cptigers.org and click on “Donations” or mail a check made payable to Carnivore Preservation Trust to 1940 Hanks Chapel Road, Pittsboro, N.C., 27312.

CPT is a nonprofit, 55-acre sanctuary that is home to 85 animals, including tiger, ocelots, binturongs and more.
