Community Brief: Chatham park grant

Aug 7, 2008 Community Jump to Comments

Chatham County Parks and Recreation Department won a $500,000 grant from the N.C. Parks and Recreation Trust Fund to build a multi-purpose county park in the northeastern part of the county. The Chatham County Board of Commissioners matched the funds.

The 66-acre park will be off Big Woods Road. Construction will probably start in 2009 and finish in spring of 2010.

The park will likely start with a baseball field, a multi-purpose field for football and soccer, a walking trail, playground, parking, concession center, picnic area and utilities.

Donations to the Chatham Parks Foundation will go toward construction of the park and others. For more information about donating, see www.chathamnc.org.
