Community Brief: Belgian exchange

Aug 7, 2008 Community Jump to Comments

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools teachers Robin McMahon and Kathleen Rhodes recently traveled to Belgium for the National French Teachers Conference.

McMahon, a teacher at Smith Middle School, and her Belgian Exchange colleague, Jean-Claude Labeye presented a session on creating successful exchange programs.

Rhodes, a French teacher at East Chapel Hill High School, traveled to the conference with nine high school French students, who gave a presentation on how music is an effective and fun way to teach French.

The students stayed with host families in Liege for one week and took excursions to Brugges, Brussels and Maastricht. The trip was an extension of Smith Middle School’s Belgian Exchange Program.
