Burmadeane George, director of Phoenix Academy, was one of 30 educators from across the country selected to attend an Oxford Roundtable entitled “Child Poverty: Educational Initiatives and Consequences.”

The Oxford Roundtable is a nonprofit organization aimed at conducting gatherings that allow citizens of the United Kingdom and the United States to discuss public policy issues bearing on education. Participants are selected based on several criteria, including nominations of earlier attendees, courses taught, presentations and writings and professional involvement in a relevant area of interest.

The roundtable will be held July 27-August 1 at Harris Manchester College at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England.
