Election Brief: Dem Convention

Orange County Democrats are invited to kickoff the election season at the annual Orange County Democratic Convention on Saturday at Mt. Zion AME Church on N.C. 86.

Attendees will have an opportunity to socialize and meet the Democratic candidates, current officeholders and fellow Democrats starting at 11 a.m. A barbecue or vegetarian lunch will be offered for a $10 donation.

Judge James A. Wynn of the N.C. Court of Appeals will give the keynote address at 1 p.m. The convention will elect delegates to the district and state conventions and a replacement for first vice chair, and it will consider policy resolutions from the precincts. It will also elect two persons for the Prosecutorial District Executive Committee of District 15B, the state Senatorial District Executive Committee of District 23 and the state House of Representatives district executive committees of districts 50 and 54.
