"In a time of economic downturn, it seems that those with the least ability to pay more in taxes should be spared from this kind of tax increase..." -

How about those low income families who for whatever reason are forced to sell their home, how about military families who are being transferred, how about the elderly couple moving into a retirement community, how about the empty-nesters moving to pay college tuition costs for their children??????

Why should they have to pay and those who aren't selling their property not????

Vote NO to the Home Tax on May 6th!

$200 million in added costs? $3 million a year from the transfer tax? You don't need to be a math major to see this does not compute.

Where has the local government been? Dancing at Weaver Street? This transfer tax is a drop in the bucket, and subsidises renters, who are the ones requiring the additional schools (according to Chapel Hill Schools). The renters are getting a free ride on the backs of the homeowners, who already pay the highest taxes in the State.

Vote non-incumbent. It is way past time for a change. The ones running the show are going to bankrupt us!
