Freelance web designer Brian Russell’s vision to create a shared workplace for freelancers and other creative types is moving toward a concrete Carrboro reality.
The idea to open what he called a shared office space with a coffee shop atmosphere was first mentioned publicly nearly a year ago. Russell said James Harris, director of economic and community development in Carrboro, encouraged him to make it happen. More »

The Carrboro High School men’s lacrosse team brought its record to 1-1 with a 9-5 win over Orange High on Friday night at home. Coaches Pete Procopio, Kelsey Kihlstrom and Paul Bonnici juggled their young line-up and taught on the fly as the Jaguars went ahead early and never trailed in a hard-fought game. The scoring was led by MacKenzie Price with four and John Pamplin with three, and Rich Leeper provided three assists. The defense was anchored by strong performances in the goal. Nick Swartzwelder had eight saves, while Gus Brighton stopped five shots.

In the West Division, the Sonics clinched the title with a record of 8-1. They’re followed by the Pacers, 7-2, the Spurs, 3-6, the Rockets, 2-7, and the Hornets who went 0-9. More »
