Community Brief: Dance Marathon

Feb 21, 2008 Community Jump to Comments

More than 1,100 UNC students have committed to stand on their feet for 24 hours on Friday at the 10th annual UNC Dance Marathon.

The event celebrates the conclusion of the participants’ yearlong fundraising efforts in support of North Carolina Children’s Hospital.

The UNC Dance Marathon, held in UNC’s Fetzer Gym, kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday and concludes 7 p.m. Saturday. The public is invited to attend the event, which will feature performances by UNC and community performance groups, varsity athletes, bands and guest speakers.

The event has raised more than $1.3 million over the past nine years, each year surpassing the previous year’s fundraising total.

Funds raised by UNC Dance Marathon are donated to North Carolina Children’s Hospital to help with families’ extra costs not associated with health care expenses that they might not otherwise be able to afford.

For more information, to view a web cast of the event or to make a donation, visit ww.uncmarathon.org. Donations may also be made at the event.
