Previous commenter: How far do you think they will get with this development before Peak Oil rears its head? Will people travel lots of miles to shop here when gas is $5 or $10 a gallon. Maybe they can build a train stop there to save it... The rail line runs nearby (but across the interstate).. though, of course, there is no commuter rail at this time.

Finally, should Mebane be squandering its water resources for this?

County officials unashamedly

Openly encouraged by our current political leaders, the Buckhorn commercial development would continue a lifestyle that is headed for demise -- it represents backward rather than forward thinking. It is perhaps most tragic that these misinvestments only accelerate as that lifestyle approaches its end. In many other discussions there is an increased awareness of the revolution of our time: the "Great Turning" from the industrial growth society to a life-sustaining civilization.
