Loveless in Seattle
They gave it a shot, but word out of Seattle is that “Lone Star Love” — a wild-west-post-civil-war musical inspired by The Merry Wives of Windsor and featuring The Red Clay Ramblers — is closing its run and won’t be headed to Broadway after all.

According to Playbill, previews scheduled to start in November at Broadway’s Belasco Theatre have been cancelled. Updates to come, but it appears the three-hour run time was a bit too much for the critics.

The cancellation dashes the Broadway debut of Randy Quaid, who stars as the shady former confederate general John Falstaff.

Yes, that was the Geico caveman on the rather large banner trailing behind a slow-moving propeller driven aircraft last Tuesday.

Memo to Lance Glass: You’re a heck of a cook, winning both last winter’s Mac-n-Cheese contest and Sunday’s Ribfest at the OCSC. ’07 was your year. Your grandmother would be proud. That said, please take ’08 off and let some other people win.

New Standard Tuning fans take note: Robert Fripp and his League of Crafty Guitarists are coming to the ArtsCenter at the end of the October. Remember that’s C-G-D-A-E-G if you want to brush up before the gig, which is Tuesday, Oct. 30.
