Joan Elizabeth Byrne, 68, of Chapel Hill passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at UNC-Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Byrne was born on December 12, 1928, in Queens, NY to Charles and Elizabeth Mullet Lang. Byrne and her husband William lived in the Governors’ Club in Chapel Hill for the past 12 years and met wonderful neighbors and friends. She retired as an Executive Secretary for a major New York bank.

Surviving is her husband Bill Byrne of the Governors’ Club in Chapel Hill.

A service of remembrance will be conducted on Sunday, September 16th, 2007, at 3 p.m. at the Walker’s Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Teresa Keller officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery in Long Island, NY at a later date. Visitation will be after the service at the funeral home.
