Breaking bread together
I was pleased to see that The Carrboro Citizen is covering the conflict over the “issue” of food at our town’s really really free markets. This seems to be part of a larger conflict over public space occuring at other locations such as Weaver St.’s lawn and the Carrboro Greenspace.

“Every time I walk past it, I get a good feeling,” said Frank Jones, maintenance caretaker at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill. His reference was to the most recent addition to the church’s landscape: a labyrinth in the front garden’s clearing.
Church member Gerry Guess funded the creation of the labyrinth in memory of her husband, Harry, after he passed away in January. With the help of N.C. State University students and other church members, Gerry’s vision was made into a reality the entire community can enjoy.

Big pull
A lot of folks just know White Cross as the home of Lloyd’s Grocery, which still has a free air hose, and Fiesta Grill, one of the finest restaurants ever located in a steel building. (Try the enchiladas molé. It’s a little sweet, but it grows on you.)
If you want to spend a pleasant evening in White Cross or if you live there and want to catch up with a couple hundred of your neighbors, they’ll be at the White Cross Recreation Center for the annual tractor pull.
