Cooking demo
Marilyn Markel of A Southern Season will demonstrate cooking with farmers’ market products at the Carrboro Farmers’ Market on Wednesday, August 8, at 4 p.m.
Markel, who manages Culinary Lessons at A Southern Season, will use in her demonstration ingredients found at the market that day.

S.V. tomato tasting
The Carrboro Farmers’ Market will host a mini tomato tasting today (Thursday) at 4:30 p.m. at the Southern Village Farmers’ Market.

Participants will be able to sample different varieties of tomatoes found at the Southern Village market. In addition, tomato recipes will be available.

Market week
The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture has proclaimed Aug. 5–11 as National Farmers Market Week.

Locally, farmers sell products at markets in both Carrboro and Hillsborough on Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. In addition, there is a small farmers market on Saturday evenings in Saxapahaw and a Thursday afternoon market in Southern Village.
