The 2nd Friday ArtWalk is this week, and there’s a special push on to walk Carrboro — and not just on Friday.

The ArtWalk is a traditional time to take to the streets and view displays through the downtowns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro.

Now a group of Carrboro residents wants to take it to a higher level.

Jackie Helvey, the town’s Volunteer of the Year and the creator of the website Carrboro.Com has added a new site featuring weekend activities in Carrboro — from the ArtWalk to the town’s music, theater and food events.

The idea, she said, is to get people out and walking like they do at the heavily attended arts events and to put a focus on the other fun things to do.

You can visit the new directory of what to do within walking distance at www.walkcarrboro.com.
