Land & Table Brief: Climate forum

NC WARN and the Carolinas Clean Air Coalition will host “Averting Climate Catastrophe: Power Plants or Clean Energy - Who Decides?” at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill on Saturday, November 17 at 3 p.m.The forum is sponsored by public groups aligned against Duke Energy’s plans to build a new coal power plant.

Speaking at the forum are Dr. James Hansen of NASA’s Goddard Institute and Mike Nicklas of Innovative Design in Raleigh.

Hansen is a highly regarded and outspoken proponent of rapid reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. At the forum, he will discuss his five-step plan for combating climate change.

Nicklas is an expert on energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable design. He will speak about alternatives to coal power plants.
